in pursuit of peace...

A bit of true confession today... I'm not feeling very positive or peaceful this day. And so, rather than any of my own 'words of wisdom' or pointless random thoughts, I shall post from God's Word intead...for He is Wisdom itself. And Truth. And Peace. And when we look at our world from His perspective, it just seems so different...

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Let your gentleness be evident to all.
The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable
—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—
think about such things.
Whatever you have learned or received
or heard from me, or seen in me
—put it into practice.
And the God of peace will be with you."

What must I do in this pursuit of peace?

  • Rejoice! in all things, rejoice!
  • Be gentle.
  • Know and remember that God is near!
  • Do not be anxious.
  • Pray! Talk to God about everything.
  • Think on the things which are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.
  • Put all these things into practice!

And, in return, the peace of God--peace beyond my limited capacity for understanding!--will be with me. This is my task for today.

  1. I wonder what's weighing on you dear, but I shan't probe. Instead, I'll pray for you that your burden be laid down soon.

    I rely on the same verse as well when I'm deeply troubled or worried. Let's pray that His peace settles in.

  2. thanks, star, for your prayers. i don't want to air politics, so i will suffice it to say that the outcome of yesterday's election is very troubling to me. i appreciate your loving concern and prayers. it's just a difficult day.

    I'm dropping by from Debra's blog. I find your blog on peace very comforting. I blogged about peace yesterday, too. We both came up with the same answer--we have to run back to God.

  6. Jessica & Stardust - thanks for your prayers. i am truly grateful for them and for you. God will meet me in this; i just have to continue to seek His face and rest in the peace that only comes from His presence.

    Jerri - i'm so glad you stopped by today. and thank you for your words of encouragement. it is all about God... He is the only answer to all of this life's confusions and worries. i'm continuing to seek His face in this and slowly coming around to that place of peace... thank you ...
