bread of love...

A couple of weeks ago, I went to the wedding of my friends' son up in northern California. When I arrived the night before the wedding, my ride dropped me off at the house where I was to be picked up by another friend with whom I would be staying. The house where I was dropped off was the location of the rehearsal dinner, and there were busy little bees all hard at work in the kitchen when I got there. Since my friend was not yet there to pick me up, I rolled up my sleeves (figuratively, since I had no sleeves!) and asked for a job to do while I waited.

I was given the task of slicing the bread that was to be used as part of the bruschetta appetizers. So I grabbed a knife and a cutting board and started merrily slicing away. I was at the end of the last loaf when the last couple of slices took on a wonderful shape:

I, of course, had to exclaim aloud about them and show them off to anyone who would at least act interested in my delighful discovery! I just thought it was very appropriate for them to be of heart shapes at a celebration of two hearts being joined together in marriage! I just love stuff like that!!

It also reminded me of the verse where Jesus calls Himself the Bread of Life. What a perfect shape for the Bread of Life to come in... the shape of the symbol of Love.

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. ~John 6:35

Thank you, God, for the reminder of your love (57), for the joining of two hearts in love (56), and for You, the Bread of Life (55)!

  1. This is totally exciting, don't you agree?! I would have been so very excited if I were to witness in person, HAHAHA!! My very instant thought; that our God who is LOVE, is also the very bread of life. =) This 'bready' find is so very awesome!

And of course, I agree with you that it symbolizes 2 hearts joined in one for a marriage. How very beautiful... Now, I gonna keep a keen lookout for my loaf. =D

    Wheee!! Great post!!
